Napoleonic Flat

I have not written much lately on any of my blogs so I am going to try and start posting some regular updates each week. The first is of a Napoleonic flat of a British 1st Dragoon Guard. I cannot for the life of me remeber the manufacturer, so if anyone recognises it let me know please. All I remember is buying it at Euro Militaire about 10 years ago. It is painted in a multi-media fashion with acrylic, oils and orinter ink. I have admit to be cheating a bit with the helmet. Most traditional flat painter would simulate this material with non-mettalic paints but I am being lazy and using printers ink.

I have been a bit busy of late with various other non-modelling projects, mostly stuff to do with my MPhil, but despite that I have got a bit of modelling done. I have been working on this Belgian Guide by Metal Modeles. The kit is sculpted by Bruno Liebovitz and is up to his usual high standards. This is my first 54mm since my move to acrylics and it seems to be coming on quite well. Here are some pics of it nearly finished. There are just a few details to add to it in the next few days.

Douglas Bader

Just finished this one. It is a 1/48 figure of Douglas Bader, which is produced by Legends. The face has been painted in oils and the rest is in acrylics. The backdrop is supposed to be a dispersal hut and it is scratchbuilt out of plasticard. I have also included a pic that I played around with a bit by making it black and white.

I attended a show yesterday in Liskeard and while there I took some pictures of models on our club stand to put up on the website. This included a few pieces of mine. Here they are:

Metal Modeles 54mm French Line Infantryman, 1859. He has been painted up as as Fusilier of the 2e Regiment Etrangere.

Andrea Miniatures’ 54mm Napoleon I.

Fort Duquesne’s 54m Sous Lieutenant Nomeny. This fifgure is based upon a famous photo taken during the French Foreign Legion’s service in Mexico.

Elite Miniatures 70mm Mongol Warrior c. 1300. A great figure sculpted by Julian Hullis.

This is a 54mm figure based upon the painting by Manet. It is from Elisena and really captures the feeling of the painting in 3-D.

Here is the original by Manet.

This is the 1/48 Model Cellar figure of the German First World War ace Werner Voss. The figure was sculpted by Mike Good.

Voss was second only to Richtofen in the number of kills, scoring 48 victories.
