US Officer AE-WWII WIP

Despite being enthused after Euro and Gravesham back in September/October I have done a distinct lack of modelling in the last month or two. In order to do something about that I decided to do something outside of my comfort zone, a sci-fi piece. It is one of the AE-WWII pieces from Darkson Designs. It is an officer of the American Faction. It is about 40mm tall. The detail is stunning when you consider the size of it. Not one for sci-fi but this one works and I will be getting some more pieces from them. They do a British Druid in a para smock.

The above pics were taken after priming but before final finishing off. I spotted a few areas that needed sorting. Here is a pic of the box art. It comes with alternative heads and arms.

Here are a few more pics of this one. You will have to keep with me on the photography as I am playing around with my new camera, a Canon Powershot SX20is, and new editing software; a new learning curve. The basics of the face are laid in. I need to go back and tighten it up.

And a pic of the base in progress.

Let me know what you think.

Hawker Sea Fury

Here are some pics of my 1/72 Hawker Sea Fury. It is the Trumpeter kit with Eduard coloured etch in the cockpit and the Aeroclub replacement propellers and undercarriage. Finished in White Ensign enamels and weathered with Promodeller washes. My only problem was with the canopy straight down the middle. Having removed it I faced some problems with Klear foggy in the corner. Trying to remove and rectify it seems to have made it worse hence why it is open. Lesson learnt.

I attended a show yesterday in Liskeard and while there I took some pictures of models on our club stand to put up on the website. This included a few pieces of mine. Here they are:

Metal Modeles 54mm French Line Infantryman, 1859. He has been painted up as as Fusilier of the 2e Regiment Etrangere.

Andrea Miniatures’ 54mm Napoleon I.

Fort Duquesne’s 54m Sous Lieutenant Nomeny. This fifgure is based upon a famous photo taken during the French Foreign Legion’s service in Mexico.

Elite Miniatures 70mm Mongol Warrior c. 1300. A great figure sculpted by Julian Hullis.

I have been building this kit for a while now as a blog for the Military Modelling website. I thought I would post a few pics here. It is almost finished and I am hopoing to have it finished in the next few weeks. It is the Hobby Boss kit, which is not to bad. Not a Tamiya kit, but then again what is, but none the less very good.

This is a 54mm figure based upon the painting by Manet. It is from Elisena and really captures the feeling of the painting in 3-D.

Here is the original by Manet.

T34/76 Model 1940

Filed under: AFV's, Eastern Front, Modelling, Second World War — Ross @ 1:12 pm

This is Dragon 1/72 T34/76 Model 1940. A great little kit with lots of details. I decided to play around with the base and angle it off centre and aimed off the base. I think it may need a couple of figure at some point too though.

This is the 1/48 Model Cellar figure of the German First World War ace Werner Voss. The figure was sculpted by Mike Good.

Voss was second only to Richtofen in the number of kills, scoring 48 victories.
